Privacy policy

Fraternal Light is based in Ventura, California. This policy explains how we handle personal information when you visit fraternallight.com, place an order, submit a custom project, or contact us.

For privacy questions or requests, email support@fraternallight.com. Our mailing contact is 7127 Owl Court, Ventura, CA 93003, United States.

Information we collect

Depending on how you interact with us, we collect:

  • Contact and delivery information, such as your name, email address, telephone number, and billing and shipping addresses.
  • Purchase information, such as items ordered, personalization details, payment status, transaction references, shipping updates, and return or support history. Payment providers collect the payment details needed to complete your transaction.
  • Account information associated with your sign-in and purchase history, if you use a customer account.
  • Custom production materials you provide, including artwork, logos, photographs, names, and personalization files.
  • Messages and other information you choose to send us.
  • Website activity and technical information, such as IP address, browser and device information, pages viewed, and cookie or similar identifiers.

We receive information directly from you, automatically through our storefront and its technologies, and from providers that process payments, operate the store, fulfill orders, or deliver packages. If you provide someone else's information for a gift or custom order, provide only what is needed and make sure you have permission to do so.

How we use information

We use information to process payments; prepare proofs when offered; make, personalize, and deliver orders; manage accounts; answer questions; handle order problems; prevent fraud; maintain business records; meet legal obligations; and operate and improve the store.

We collect email subscriptions through our website and from customers who choose to subscribe, to build a list for future promotional email. We have not started sending promotional campaigns. A purchase or an unanswered subscription invitation is not treated as a confirmed marketing subscription. We do not currently send promotional text messages or postal mail.

When we send promotional email, we will provide an unsubscribe option. Order confirmations, shipping updates, and replies to requests are separate from promotional email and do not require joining the marketing list.

Customer artwork and personalization files

We treat customer artwork, photographs, logos, names, and personalization files as private production materials. We use them to discuss and prepare your project, make and fulfill your order, provide support, and keep necessary business records. We may retain original files and prepared production versions, including files adapted for laser work, to make future reorders easier and reduce repeat preparation costs. We provide these materials to production partners only as needed for those purposes.

We do not publish customer artwork or production files as standalone promotional material. We may showcase photographs of a finished custom product we made only with separate permission covering the proposed use. This permission is handled separately with the custom project and is not automatically granted by placing an order. We do not make promotional permission a condition of buying a product.

You can ask us to delete production files by emailing support@fraternallight.com. We will explain any records we need to keep for legal obligations, unresolved claims, or other legitimate recordkeeping needs. Deletion may affect our ability to reproduce a previous custom order.

Who receives information

We disclose information as needed to:

  • Shopify and payment providers, to operate the storefront, process transactions, and support checkout and account features.
  • Production and fulfillment partners, when they make or ship your order. Relevant information can include delivery details, order specifications, and the artwork or personalization needed to make the item.
  • Other service providers, for shipping, website operations, file storage, communications, security, and necessary business administration.
  • Authorities or other parties, when required by law or reasonably necessary to address fraud, legal claims, or threats to people's safety or rights.
  • A business successor, if ownership changes, subject to applicable privacy obligations.

We also use Google and Pinterest integrations for the measurement and marketing purposes described below. Customer artwork and production files are not supplied for advertising. Any authorized promotion of finished custom products is handled through separate permission.

Shopify also processes some information for its own services under its Privacy Policy and Consumer Privacy Policy. Contact Fraternal Light about an order purchased from this store.

Customer Reviews

We use Judge.me to request, collect, verify, and display customer reviews. We share relevant customer contact and purchase information with Judge.me for these purposes. Judge.me also processes technical information, such as IP addresses, device information, and cookies, to operate and protect its services.

Submitting a review is optional. Your review, chosen public display name, and any photographs or videos you intentionally submit with it may be displayed publicly on our website and, where enabled, connected services such as Shop and Judge.me's review site. We do not publish your email address or other private contact information with your review.

You can unsubscribe from review-request emails using the link in those messages. For privacy requests, contact support@fraternallight.com. See Judge.me's Privacy Policy for more information about its practices.

Shopify Network Intelligence

Shopify hosts our store and processes information when you browse or buy from us. We use Shopify Network Intelligence, which combines information from our store with interactions with other merchants and Shopify to provide enhanced services, including personalization and advertising. Information is shared with Shopify and other third parties, including in other countries, to provide these services. See Shopify's Consumer Privacy Policy and privacy portal for its practices and choices.

Sale, sharing, and advertising

We do not sell customer lists. We use Google Analytics and Google's conversion measurement to understand activity on our store and measure results from Google listings and advertising. We also connect our product catalog to Pinterest and use its measurement integration. Product catalog information helps display our products; measurement tools process information about interactions with our store.

These integrations can collect device and browser information, IP addresses, cookie or similar identifiers, and activity such as product views, shopping-cart actions, and purchases. The information supports analytics, product discovery, and marketing measurement. Pinterest may combine information received from partner websites with other information to personalize content and advertising. Its Privacy Policy explains its information use.

Advertising-related disclosures may be considered a sale, sharing for cross-context behavioral advertising, or targeted advertising under applicable state privacy laws, even when no money is paid for the information. You can request an opt-out through Your Privacy Choices. You can also manage Pinterest's use of your information through its privacy and data settings. These Pinterest settings are additional choices and do not replace the store's opt-out link.

Cookies, tracking, and privacy controls

Our storefront uses cookies and similar technologies for functions such as checkout, security, and remembering preferences. Shopify explains its technologies in its Cookie Policy.

You can submit an opt-out request through Your Privacy Choices, linked in our footer. An advertising-related opt-out does not disable all website measurement or the processing needed to handle your order.

Where our data-sharing opt-out controls apply, our Shopify storefront recognizes Global Privacy Control (GPC) as a request to opt out of sale, sharing, or targeted advertising for the associated browser or device. You can enable GPC in a browser that supports it or use Your Privacy Choices. Shopify says it marks opted-out store activity so Network Intelligence does not use it for advertising.

An opt-out made in one browser may not cover other browsers, devices, or accounts you use. Enable GPC or use the opt-out controls in each browser you use. Email support@fraternallight.com for help with information associated with your account or a broader request. We apply requests more broadly where required by applicable law.

The older Do Not Track browser signal is different from GPC. We do not change our information practices in response to that older signal. Use GPC or Your Privacy Choices to submit an advertising-related opt-out.

Shopify and the analytics and advertising providers described above may collect personal information about your activity over time and across different websites or services, subject to applicable privacy choices. Their policies explain how they use that information. An opt-out does not delete your order records or stop processing needed to fulfill an order, maintain security, or meet legal obligations.

You can also manage cookies in your browser. Blocking cookies can affect checkout and other features. Browser cookie settings alone may not stop every disclosure, including server-based transfers.

Your requests and choices

Email support@fraternallight.com to ask to review, correct, obtain a copy of, or delete personal information we hold about you. Depending on your state and applicable law, you may also have rights to opt out of sale, sharing, or targeted advertising; withdraw consent; limit certain sensitive-data uses; use an authorized agent; or appeal a denied request. The controls described above explain available advertising choices.

We may need reasonable information to verify a request, or proof that an agent is authorized. We will respond within applicable legal deadlines and explain any exception that applies. If we deny your request, you can reply to ask us to reconsider or appeal. You may also contact the relevant state regulator. We will not discriminate against you for exercising privacy rights.

Retention, security, and processing locations

We retain information for as long as reasonably needed for the purposes described here, including order support, accounting, legal obligations, dispute resolution, and future reorders. We generally keep original and prepared production files while they remain useful for repeat work, unless you request deletion or there is another reason to remove them. Retaining a file does not grant promotional rights or guarantee permanent storage.

We use reasonable safeguards appropriate to the information we handle. No system is completely secure. Do not email payment-card numbers or unnecessary sensitive information to us.

Shopify and our other service providers may process information in other countries, where privacy laws may differ.

Children and external websites

Our store is intended for adults making purchases and is not directed to children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information directly to us, contact support@fraternallight.com. Adult-submitted personalization materials are handled under the production-file provisions above.

External websites and services have their own privacy practices. Review their policies when you choose to use them.

Policy updates

We will post revisions here and update the Last updated date. If a change requires additional notice or consent, we will provide it. A policy update does not itself authorize a new use of existing customer production files for promotion.
